The VAAR 2000 can be programmed to operate with a wide variety of VCR's currently available worldwide and will continue recording for a period of two minutes after the activity has ceased. Coupled up with a time and date generator, the image captured on the video cassette can be provided to the police and used later to prosecute the perpetrator in court. VAAR 2000 are now in use in many locations around the world providing a reliable security net around valued possessions and have been used to successfully indentify the subjects of many illegal entries to premises. Catching the Nanny on Camera The baby was cranky and sleeping poorly. The boy's mother, who works, had a hunch. So the father left the camcorder running all day - and confirmed their worst fears on videotape. More and more parents are using hidden cameras to find out what goes on when the babysitter is alone with the children. Despite the murky legalities and ethics of such spying, detectives and electronics shops are expanding into the business. Of the 13 million children in the United States whose mothers work, 5 percent are cared for by nannies and other non-family caregivers at the child's home, according to the government. Improving technology and failing prices for miniature cameras have helped spur the nanny-watching business. Some parents who have used hidden cameras are happily surprised; they see their nanny giving good care on tape. Other tapes have led to arrests. In Charlotte, North Carolina, 1998, a nanny was convicted of child abuse after a hidden camera filmed her stifling a crying baby with a blanket. Security and PrivacySecret (covert) videotaping &endash; whether in an office, commercial premises or in the home &endash;raises issues under the New Zealand Privacy Act. In addition, it is an offence under the Crimes Act to tape conversations using video surveillance equipment, as this can be considered to be the use of an illegal listening device. Covert video cameras should not be installed where a gross intrusion of personal privacy may become evident e.g. in toilets, bathrooms, changing rooms etc. If there is doubt about the location of a camera, then advice should be sought from the Privacy Commissioner's office. It is the responsibility of the owner of the premises or the business to ensure that covert surveillance equipment is used in a legal and ethical manner and for the minimum period necessary. In general covert videotaping is acceptable for a limited period to reveal the actions of persons suspected of being involved in illegal acts. If it is intended to install covert video surveillance on a permanent basis, then signs to this effect need to be displayed e.g. "These premises are under video surveillance". For customers from overseas, please make yourself aware of your local, federal or national laws and regulations regarding any product you purchase and intend to use for Video Surveillance and/or security.
Features1. Programmable VCR selection for Infra Red control 2. Battery backup for VCR selection memory *** This is for programmable memory only, the VAAR 2000 and a VCR do not work with a power failure. For ULTRA security protection an Uninteruptable Power Supply (U.P.S) would be recommended . This would require the VAAR 2000 and VCR to share the U.P.S. 3. VCR power up feature - Enabling the VAAR 2000 and VCR to recover from power failure i.e. VAAR 2000 takes the VCR out of standby in the event of mains failure. The VAAR 2000 will also automatically arm itself after power failure, unless it was disarmed before power lose by the external KEY input. 4. Power Monitor outputs that can be used with a digital dialer or siren etc.. to warn that the VAAR 2000 and VCR have loss mains power and will be inactive while the power is off. 5. Normally Open and Normally Closed monitored inputs that can be connected to any alarm sensor or alarm unit that supplies clean contact outputs or 5V logic level outputs. 6. The VAAR 2000 also includes outputs for hard wiring the unit to the VCR Record signal Stop signal out Power up out 7. The VAAR 2000 also has extra outputs that can integrate with external systems, such as an existing alarm system or Camera lighting system, Alarm Monitoring or remote warning buzzer etc.. Instant out (Grounded when the VAAR 2000 starts recording and until it finishes). This can be used for activating external sirens or for informing a monitoring company. Delay out (Grounded 5 seconds after the VAAR 2000 starts recording and until it finishes). This can also be used for turning lights on after five seconds of the activation. This ensures that the security breach is recorded before the offender has any indication that they have set off an alarm. Set out (Grounded when the system is armed and / or activated). This can be used to send signals to inform the monitoring company that the VAAR is either set or unset. 8. The VAAR 2000 features some in-built delay's . These can be adjusted by the manufacturer to meet your customised requirements. POWER ON DELAY - a delay of 10 seconds before sending signal to Wake the VCR up. This gives time for the VCR to initialise itself on power up before receiving Wake up signal. ARMING DELAY - an arming delay of 60 seconds from when the unit is signaled to arm and when it arms itself to enable the monitored zone to be clear when VAAR is armed. RECORDING DELAY - This delay of 2 minutes enables the VCR to capture events in between sensor triggers and enable the VCR to capture all the events required. This delay is reset with every sensor trigger, which means the VCR will keep recording up to 2 minutes after the last trigger received. Regulated DC outputs of both +9V and +12V to enable alarm sensors and camera's etc.. to be powered from the VAAR 2000 All these features provide a flexible and easy to use system for video surveillance of a monitored area. The joy of the infra red link means that any commercial VCR can be used for the application without having to modify it, unless specifically required. |
